Self Portrait in the time of COVID-19

James Lattanzio

James Lattanzio was born in Astoria, New York, and studied commercial photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and went on to work as a commercial interior photographer. In 2018, he was chosen as an exhibiting artist by the Klompching Gallery for their Fresh Summer Exhibition of new contemporary fine art photography and was shortlisted for the Rhonda Wilson Award celebrating new talent in fine art photography for “Varsity” his documentary portrait series on teenage athletes. In 2019, this work was presented at Mana Contemporary, and by Month of Photography, Los Angeles, and published in The Washington Post. Wanting to further his education and ability to create meaningful and concerned documentary photography he decided to attend the International Center of Photography’s prestigious Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism program and received an ICP Directors Fellowship to attend. He graduated in June of 2020.
